First Church Community Garden

Purpose:

The First Church Community Garden launched in 2022 to be a resource for senior citizens and those with special needs living at the adjacent Housing Authority property and has since grown to include other participants, including Frances K. Sweet Magnet School.

Activities and Events

Harvesting and Maintenance days are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9:30 AM at the garden with is located across the street from the Church (515 Ave. A) on Avenue A.

Activities include planting, watering, harvesting, weeding, and deadheading.

Timeframe

October: Planting Season

Winter Months: Harvesting

Spring: Cleanup

Late Summer: Garden Preparation

How To Participate

Volunteers with Green Thumbs are always needed; novice gardeners are embraced! This is a great opportunity for youth for Community Service hours. Fill out a mission interest form to get involved!
